PRESS[ REVIEWS ] [ AWARDS ] [ PRESS KIT (PDF file) ] [ STILLS ] [ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ]"THE METHOD" TAKES TOP PRIZE FOR BEST US SHORT AT The 2005 Avignon / New York Film Festival concluded this past Sunday night with an awards ceremony at Hunter College, where "The Method" was named Best U.S. Short Film. This was also "The Method's" world premiere. At the ceremony, festival director Jerry Rudes presented the award to "The Method" director Jason Holzman and co-writer and star Gregg Brown. Other festival prizes went to "Lbs." by director Matthew Bonifacio, which won best U.S. feature film, Guy Jacques' "Ze Film" which won best French feature film, and Louis-Martin Soucy's "Handicap" which took best French short. The festival's Pierre Salinger award for documentary filmmaking was awarded to Barbara F. Freed for "A Model for Matisse." "THE METHOD" WORLD PREMIERE "The Method" was one of only ten American shorts chosen to compete in the 2005 Avignon / New York Film Festival, which will be taking place in New York City this November. It’s the story of a “method” actor who’s up for a major role in a movie. He’s only got one more callback to nail the part of a vicious criminal. He’s a really nice guy. He needs to get the part. He has a gun… The screening will take place on Friday, November 11th at 9:30pm, on the campus of Hunter College, at the 627-seat Kaye Playhouse. The entrance is on East 68th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. It will be screened with a French feature entitled Au Suivant! (Next!), a lighthearted comedy about the misadventures of a French casting director who falls in love with the most unlikely person – a guy who’s not an actor. Tickets are available through the festival website (for only $8) at avignonfilmfest.com, and at the box office at Kaye Playhouse. The screening is likely to sell out, so be sure to get your tickets early. |
